This will the first and only time the Regina Pats and Tri-City Americans will meet each other for the 2009-10 season. . The two met last season in a early battle that saw the Pats take a commanding 3 goal lead late in the 3rd period, only to see the Americans storm back to tie the game, and then win it 4-3 in overtime.
Last Action:
For the second time in 3 games, the Pats had to come from behind. In Brandon Sunday night, it was a four goal deficit, only to see them lose 8-7. This time in Cranbrook last night, the Kootenay Ice staked themselves to a 2-0 1st period lead, only to have Jordan Eberle notch his 19th of the season on the power play in the 2nd, and Kyle Mulder tie it in the 3rd. The game went to a shootout, and the Pats prevailed with Matt Strueby picking the winner and Damien Ketlo kicking away 3 of 4 Ice shooters for the 3-2 win.
First time in the U.S.:
Almost half of Pats players are making their first trip through the U.S. Division: Damien Ketlo, Dawson Guhle, Brandon Davidson, Myles Bell, Hampus Gustafsson, Kyle Mulder, Jordan Weal, Dominick Favreau, Tomas Hricina, Travis Sparrow, Andrew Rieder, Tyler Borstmayer.
